The Invisible Enemy

We never imagined the entire world’s population would be so restricted so quickly by an invisible enemy. Did you know that we have an invisible enemy ever present among us at all times?

Now, I’m talking about something different than the coronavirus, COVID-19, also known as SARS-CoV-2. I’m talking about the enemy of our souls, also known as the thief. His purpose is to “steal, kill, and destroy” (see John 10:10).

This virus is similar in many ways. We can’t see it. It’s stealing our joy. It’s stealing our life as we know it. It’s trying to destroy us, but we’re trying to destroy it before it’s out of control.

Yet, we don’t see how the enemy of our souls has many of us out of control. Some of us are under the control of the enemy nearly all the time.

We don’t see how much the enemy restricts us from a relationship with the lover of our souls. We don’t see how the enemy destroys our lives so quickly and so successfully.

Many of us have very little joy. The enemy has stolen our jobs, our money, and our security.

Before we ever heard of this invisible virus, many people were being affected by the enemy’s invisible evil forces. According to a recent statistical survey in the Orlando, Florida area, 58% of the residents were already saying they were hopeless or depressed. How do you think they’re feeling now?

What have we done? Allowed many church doors to be closed? I’d dare say that this action is guided by fear and steered at the direction of government officials.

Well then maybe we’ll have to take to preaching in the streets. Maybe we’ll have to shout it from the hilltops. Maybe we’ll have to start revival outside the walls of those buildings.

We’ve misplaced our hope and trust. We’ve misplaced the true source of our joy. We’ve misplaced the answer to our needs.

We’ve allowed the invisible enemy to rob from us, kill us and our family, and destroy the whole world. We’ve allowed both the virus and the devil to divide and conquer.

There are many similarities between the invisible virus and the devil, who is truly the aggressive enemy of our souls. This is a real war for our souls for eternity. This goes way beyond the grave of death. The virus can kill the body, but we decide for ourselves what our eternal destiny will be, depending on whether we rely on wisdom with faith or whether we foolishly follow the world.

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places(Ephesians 6:12).

Wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord (Psalm 111:10). Fear only God, not the virus. Fear the real enemy of our soul, satan, that crafty, wicked devil.

We need to find the right path to joy, to hope, to faith. Our government is not that source. We need to see where we have each failed to trust the greatest source of love and healing on earth and in Heaven: our Father God. We need to seek Him and repent (turn away) from sin. We need to realize just how much the One who created us loves us so very much.

We need to find joy in the Lord, hope in the purposes of God, and faith and trust only in Him. We need to be calling on the Heavenly Father, Creator of Life and Fulfiller of the Heart.

We are all out of focus. We are blinded by the darkness surrounding us: this invisible, evil enemy.

We need to refocus on the Savior of the World, Jesus Christ. He can calm your fears and bring peace to your heart and mind. Call on him to be saved. Ask for forgiveness and get your heart right with Him.

We need to renew our mind daily by reading the Bible and praying. We need God and He waits for us to call on Him.

Will you do that today? Will you seek your refuge in the Almighty God? He is waiting to hear from you today.

Until we virtually meet again, may God call you to Himself!

God’s Word for Today:Show me your unfailing love in wonderful ways.
By your mighty power you rescue those who seek refuge from their enemies
.” (Psalm 17:7)
